AUP

Today, I dove into the topic of AUPs. While I have known that they are important, and that ours at SCS needed a revision, I was shocked in how lacking it was.

I have learned that AUP's really need to provide more than just a list of don't for the user. They should also express the expectations for appropriate use. I mean it is called Acceptable Use Policy... not Unacceptable Use Policy. We can't just tell students what not to do. We have to guide, model and instruct on what to do. I think and AUP is a good starting point.

My plans as I move forward are going to be to construct a new AUP that really deals with issues of digital citizenship.
