Definition of Digital Citizenship

Digital citizenship is a comprehensive framework of best practice, with regards to technology use, that enables people serving in a global community to effectively model appropriate use in diverse digital settings, resulting in increased productivity, learning, collaboration and communication.

AASL Correlations:

Standards 1 correlates to "learning" and "appropriate use".
Standard 2 correlates to "learning", "communication", and "collaboration"
Standard 3 talks about participating ethically in a democratic society. This correlates to both "best practice" and "global community"
Standard 4 deals with personal growth, which includes "productively", "learning", "collaboration", and "communication".

NETS-S Correlations:

Standard 2 emphasizes "appropriate" and ethical use with regard to technology use.
Standard 3 emphasizes "productivity" and "collaboration"
Standard 4 emphasizes "communication" and "collaboration" in a community.
Standard 5 emphasizes research that leads to greater "learning".
